Déan do dhícheall i gcónaí
Guest Speaker: Leo Quinlan
On Tuesday 8th May, Leo Quinlan visited the school to speak to the children in 3rd to 6th class about his father, local man Irish Commandant Pat Quinlan(native of Reenearagh, Caherdaniel) and the Siege of Jadotville. Leo explained to the children that The Siege of Jadotville took place in September 1961, during the United Nations intervention in the conflict in Central Africa at the time. He spoke to the children about the battle that took place and showed them different pictures from the time. The children got the opportunity to ask Leo different questions about, not only his father and the Siege, but also Leo’s own time spent in the army. Leo commented on how well behaved the children were and the interesting questions that they asked him. Many thanks to Leo for this amazing talk, the children really enjoyed it.
